Live video come in the Facebook Messenger conversations
The video already existed on Facebook Messenger. But in its latest update iOS and Android, the app has incorporated a new feature, Instant Video. This is live thumbnails embedded directly in the written conversations.
"It's perfect for sharing quick moments with friends who are not on your side, or to enrich your conversations seeing you face-to-face while you exchange messages," the group wrote.
Instant Video is available by touching a single button integrated in Messenger. The sound is turned off by default, but the user can decide to activate it, much like the Duo app from Google. The idea is to offer a pop-up window, and then decide if the video is interesting.
Resist face Snapchat
This tool is very reminiscent of a function already present on Snapchat, a messaging service that has become extremely popular with American teenagers through its messages and pictures that disappear soon after being seen by the recipient.
Some analysts fear from some time that young consumers, a public particularly popular with advertisers, abandoning Facebook to other services just like Snapchat.
The social network to 1.71 billion members had attempted to put these concerns in its last quarterly results in July, arguing that teenagers also used many other services of the group as its Messenger and WhatsApp messaging (over one billion users each) or application sharing Instagram photos and videos (500 million).
Facebook has not less multiplied lately initiatives inspired many products offered by Snapchat.
